Our Relationship with DFA
Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA) was founded in 1981 by some of the smartest people in finance. Over the years, they have strengthened ties to the academic world and today, six of their eight-member Board of Directors (two of whom are Nobel Laureates) are well recognized finance professors at several of America's leading business schools. During that time, they have also grown their business to over $50 billion in assets under management, despite their low-profile marketing approach.
Recently, DFA has launched their services in Canada with five low-cost, no-load funds, accessible only to approved advisors possessing similar investment philosophies including Milestone. We are utilizing their strategies and funds to complement our existing stable of Canadian stocks, bonds, exchange traded funds and REITs in client portfolios. As Investment Counsel, Milestone is precluded from accepting any compensation from investment management providers such as DFA. We view our independent relationship as an essential ingredient in ensuring objectivity in the investment management process.
